Got A Call From My Agent For Extra Work

4/25/2016

I RARELY do extra work. In fact I haven't done extra work in maybe 4 years. I mean I was a "featured" extra in the shoot where I was a TSA agent, but that's different from background extra. I usually aim for the Principle or side character roles, or even featured extras.

Since my agent said the pay was good, and it's on the weekend, it'll be double time in pay, and since I don't have a full time job, I need the money hehe.

For the people who are wondering what the difference between background (extra), and featured extra is, background (extra) is exactly what it sounds like haha. Just background. You're in the background. Do you get screen time? MAYBE. The camera my have a split second pan of all the other background people and you might see yourself. Featured extra is you having a bit more screen time and being more noticeable. I aim for featured extra and principle roles.

You get paid very little as a background. You sit and wait maybe 80% of the time and depending on the production crew, client, and director, the food for backgrounds are pretty low standard compared to the featured extras or principles.

I've been doing extra work since 2005 and stopped most of extra work maybe in 2009 when I realized I wanted MORE. It's hard to get noticed as an extra. Not saying it's impossible, but it's difficult. Sure you meet nice people and maybe get connections, but if your planning to get into acting for real, you have to aim for the principle roles. Otherwise you're a full time extra, which by the way, there are people who do extra work full time for the money and not aim to be a big star.

Had Another Shooting Today

I was used a 2nd time as I mentioned before. The one where I'm suited up as a TSA Agent. It was for the same company which I'm not allowed to say at the moment. I can say it when it gets released :D

My role was changed and it was a good thing. I had a speaking role! The bad thing is that it's in Mandarin and I speak NO Mandarin at all!!!! I'm so glad the talent I worked with taught me how to say the line I'm supposed to say. There's going to be a voice over and I'm sure someone else is going to voice me over. I did take a line recording, that's where you sit in a quiet room and say your lines so they use that and voice it over.

The talent there was awesome. Great people and hopefully I can work with them again someday.

Fist picture is me WITH make up. No photoshop, no magic, just some great make up artists. The other two were some of the talent. I couldn't take a picture of everyone which I wish I did.

That rhymes haii yoooo.

I had a great time shooting with Michelle. Here's her link: http://www.micheleblackwellphotography.com/

She's super great. Super nice and you can tell she knows what she's doing. It's always great to shoot with someone who knows what they're doing.

I keep forgetting to take a photo of the photographers I shoot with... next time.

My Hard Drive Died! But I'm Back

Luckily I didn't lose everything. I had a plan to keep one drive for only the Operating System and the other Drive to just be the drive with all the pics and videos. And of course I have a backup.

I lost all my bookmarks though.

I had the gig I auditioned for last week. It was great. We shot at the Air Express (I Think) in Burbank. Met a lot of great people! Super cool and chill. I was also selected to appear a 2nd time for a different role. Honestly when I shot the first role, I was hoping for more screen time, but there was a reason why I didn't get as much screen time as the rest. It's because I had a 2nd part to go to! :D So that's perfectly fine for me yippieee.

Here is a photo of my Asian crew. I was in the Asian shoot. I'm not being racist. :D

Just Came Back From The Audition

Fast and simple Just the way I like it. It was in a great spot too. Plenty of parking, not TOO much traffic although I'm sure it can get pretty bad at peak hours.

It was near CBS and other studios. The studio where Conan O'Brien is which ever network that is :D.

Take some photos and say a few sentences about myself. I really like those. I said I had 3 fake teeth. It's always very interesting to see another persons reaction.

Had my Fitting and another audition!

I had my fitting yesterday. For those who don't know what a fitting is, it's where they fit you in clothes for the shoot when it happens :D.

I can't really say what I'm playing. Not yet anyways. Let's just say "I AM THE LAW".

On top of that, I got another Audition tomorrow! 4.13.2016. It's a place I've never been before either so I'm going to have to scope the area for parking.

On a side note, I haven't been riding my motorcycle and I feel bad. I'll ride it tomorrow, but not to the audition. Traffic in LA is actually very nerve wrecking. Roads are broken and cracked up, drivers don't use signals. It's so dangerous. I know riding a motorcycle is dangerous in itself and I know the consequences of riding but, when I was in San Francisco, I literally felt safe. Here I'm in constant fear of people just turning into my lane and hitting me because it's SO congested. For the people who do make room for me when I split lanes, thank you!

Let's hope tomorrow is good!

Callback for an audition

4/6/2016

Wooo weee. A callback that I just came back from. I was in the same team with another person that was there for the first audition.

I hope things went well. This time around, it was slightly different. I hope my facial expression was as good or even better than last time.

The director was there and the audition was faster than before... I hope that's not a bad thing.

This is my first call back in LA. Yes I know, sad but, at least I got a call back.
