Since my agent said the pay was good, and it's on the weekend, it'll be double time in pay, and since I don't have a full time job, I need the money hehe.
For the people who are wondering what the difference between background (extra), and featured extra is, background (extra) is exactly what it sounds like haha. Just background. You're in the background. Do you get screen time? MAYBE. The camera my have a split second pan of all the other background people and you might see yourself. Featured extra is you having a bit more screen time and being more noticeable. I aim for featured extra and principle roles.
You get paid very little as a background. You sit and wait maybe 80% of the time and depending on the production crew, client, and director, the food for backgrounds are pretty low standard compared to the featured extras or principles.
I've been doing extra work since 2005 and stopped most of extra work maybe in 2009 when I realized I wanted MORE. It's hard to get noticed as an extra. Not saying it's impossible, but it's difficult. Sure you meet nice people and maybe get connections, but if your planning to get into acting for real, you have to aim for the principle roles. Otherwise you're a full time extra, which by the way, there are people who do extra work full time for the money and not aim to be a big star.
