Was your typical extra work haha.

I was excited to be used many times instead of sitting in the holding (waiting) area. Some extras barely got used! I met a lot of amazing and interesting people Each had their own stories and advice to tell. Great people. It seems extra work is a lot more available than actual acting work. They're out there, but even the people that worked in as extras last night tell me there's more extra work than actual given auditions for main roles.

But they're out there haha. So far I'm on the right track. I'm using the casting websites that people use and the main thing to use for extra work is actually Facebook. I guess there's a reason for me to hop on my Facebook more often now.

Yes that's right, I rarely use Facebook in this day and age. Shocker? Maybe not haha.

For a pizza commercial. Woot woot.

I had a blast. Met with other talent, the production crew was spot on! This was for Jewel Osco a supermarket in Chicago. The shoot was about 5.5 hours total and most of that time was just waiting around but, it didn't feel that long because I was reading a book then talked to the other talent. So far, everyone I met there was super cool and chill. Networking baby!

The shoot itself took maybe 40 minutes total. That's what I love about a great production crew. When they know what they want, the process is super fast and everything is well organized! Those. Are. The. BEST!

I had a few times where production crew was SLOW and people were arguing with other people about where things should go and this and that. This crew was great as well as the talent. So far, Chicago seems more chill than LA when it comes to work. BUT there's less work here... Also This was my first work in entertainment IN Chicago so I don't know how the rest will be like.

I'll know more a bit tomorrow when I'm on scene at  Chicago Med. As an extra. Supposedly it's going to be a very long day. Till the night time. And my call time is 3pm... 

I'll prepare snacks and get my kindle ready with a good book. I already have 2.

Work is work right!? At least it's a start. I got 2 back to back extra gigs. One for a Jewel Osco supermarket and one for Chicago Med. Yippiee.

It's always best to network with others of course. Which is why I'm happy that I got these roles. I'll ask what types of sites I should be using in Chicago for castings and auditions. It'll be goooood.

Chicago Med too. A big thing in Chicago. As well as Chicago PD and Fire which I'm also trying to get into.

Of course I didn't expect it to be a walk in a park either. I did move out of LA where there were a lot of gigs and auditions. So far auditions are very limited here in Chicago. I tried looking for extra work too. I'm signed up for Casting Networks so now I have to expand because they do regional auditions. So basically some auditions might be in the next state over. I don't plan to drive that far for an audition.

I'll get work though. I know I said I was going to freelance for a whole year, but I might just have to find an agency sooner than I thought haha. I'll still try freelance for now. There's a lot of resources for audition work, I just have to see if they are legit.
